ISLAMABAD: The authorities have opened Swat Motorway from Karnal Sher Khan to Ismailia for all types of traffic due to reduction in fog intensity.
Motorway police advice
The Motorway police announced Wednesday to open the road after a reduction in the foggy conditions. The public has been requested by the Motorway Police to avoid unnecessary travel in foggy weather and use fog lights while on road. The public has also been advised to maintain proper distance between the vehicles. Before starting the journey, help can be taken from helpline 130.
Furthermore, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) has forecast cold and dry weather in most parts of the country. Foggy conditions will likely persist over plain areas of Upper Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning hours and at night.
As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of the country. A westerly shallow wave is also present in the upper parts of the country.
Air quality in different cities
The air quality in the capital of Punjab, i.e., Lahore, is 345 US AQI; in Bahawalpur, it is 197, 197 in Muridke, 192 in Rawalpindi, and 154 in Sialkot. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi is 235 US AQI, while Islamabad’s air quality stands at 127. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, air quality is 444 in Swabi and 68 in Abbottabad and 345 in Peshawar. “Good” AQI is 0 – 50.
Recorded temperatures
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met), a maximum of 9 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 13°C in Lahore, 19°C in Karachi, 6.5°C in Peshawar, 8°C in Quetta, and -2.5°C in Gilgit.

Today’s Recorded Lowest Minimum Temperatures (°C): Leh -09, Ziarat -05, Gupis, Kalam -04, Skardu and Kalat -03.
