LONDON: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Sher Afzal Marwat arrived in London to attend a show by renowned folk singer Malkoo, but the event faced a setback when Malkoo, Sara Ashraf, and other group members were offloaded by immigration authorities at Lahore Airport.

Mohammad Ashraf Malik, popularly known as Malkoo, was informed that his name was on the immigration stop list, preventing him from traveling abroad. The incident sparked condemnation from Marwat, who criticized the government’s actions upon his arrival in London.

Speaking to the press, Marwat expressed his strong disapproval of the ban on artists, stating, “Such restrictions on artists are unacceptable in any way. Artists are the cultural ambassadors of our country, and barring them from traveling is detrimental to our cultural exchange and soft image abroad.”

In addition to criticizing the government’s move, Marwat also condemned individuals abroad who propagate against state institutions. He labeled them as “liars and fugitives who are misleading the youth.”

The organizers of the Malkoo Show, Liaquat Malik and Afzal Shah, were also present and echoed Marwat’s sentiments, expressing their disappointment over the disruption caused by the immigration authorities’ decision.
