RAHIMYAR KHAN: Sheikh Zayed International Airport Rahimyar Khan (SZIAP) conducted a comprehensive airport emergency exercise to assess and enhance readiness in the case of an emergency.
As part of this exercise, a fire pit simulator was utilized to replicate the aftermath of a plane crash, and emergency response teams promptly attended to the simulated inferno.
The primary goal of this drill was to ensure the effectiveness and readiness of all airport stakeholders during emergency situations.
The emergency response time achieved during the exercise was under two minutes, meeting the targeted response time.
The exercise involved the participation of various organizations and agencies, including the Rescue and Fire Fighting Services, Civil Aviation, Sheikh Zayed Hospital, and Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
The cooperation and coordination among multiple agencies were prominently displayed as Rangers, police, and 1122 rescue services actively participated in the exercise.
It’s noteworthy that these full-scale airport emergency exercises are conducted biennially in compliance with the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization. These drills are essential to maintain the highest level of safety and preparedness for responding to emergency situations.
