RAWALPINDI: Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid has said that the next 72 hours will decide the fate of the elections to the two provincial assemblies of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, Rashid said Imran Khan cannot be expelled from the country’s politics by force. He asked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples’ Party leadership to get their corruption cases disposed of by April 30 or be ready to go to a ‘real’ jail.

The Awami Muslim League chief said that the tenure of the caretaker governments will be over after 90 days and added the ‘Group of 13’ had not enough members to field in the constituencies for the upcoming elections. Making mockery of the IGP Punjab claims, Rashid said, “Thanks God, they [police] recovered only Kalashnikoves, not a cannon from Zaman Park. No one cares about poor who is dying in distress,” he lamented and added that people will go tired waiting for Nawaz Sharif.

China, US ‘refused’ to bail out Pakistan: Rashid

The former interior minister was of the view that China and the US had ‘refused’ to bail out Pakistan in the ongoing economic crisis. Both countries were asking Pakistan to introduce economic reforms. He said Ishaq Dar could not conclude talks with the IMF in three months.
