LAHORE: Former Prime Minister and President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Shehbaz Sharif, made a sudden departure from Lahore to London on Thursday morning.

He travelled to the British capital via Doha on a private airline flight, with the primary purpose of holding an important meeting with his brother and PML-N leader, Nawaz Sharif.

This unexpected trip marks Shehbaz Sharif’s return to London shortly after his recent visit to the city. Sources suggest that his journey carries a significant message to deliver to Nawaz Sharif, signalling the urgency and importance of their discussions.

Shehbaz Sharif had spent a month in London, engaging in meetings with Nawaz Sharif and other party leaders. During his stay, he had announced October 21 as the date for Nawaz Sharif’s anticipated return to Pakistan. This return is expected to mark the beginning of the PML-N’s election campaign.

Accompanying Shehbaz Sharif’s journey, PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz also headed to London from Lahore, connecting via Dubai. Her trip includes a meeting with her father, Nawaz Sharif, and her brothers. She is reportedly accompanied by her younger daughter.

In London, the Sharif family members are set to discuss the details of Nawaz Sharif’s return on October 21. The reunion in London serves as an opportunity for strategic planning and coordination as the PML-N prepares for the upcoming political developments.

The discussions in London are expected to center around the party’s election strategy and the role Nawaz Sharif will play upon his return to Pakistan. Rana Sanaullah, former interior minister and senior PML-N member, will oversee the preparations for Nawaz Sharif’s reception upon his impending return.

Wednesday witnessed Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz engaging in conversations about Nawaz Sharif’s return, underscoring the significance of these discussions within the PML-N leadership. As the party gears up for electoral challenges, the meetings in London hold critical importance in shaping the political landscape in Pakistan.
