Shaniera Akram to Debut Her First Pakistani Film ‘Money Back Guarantee’

ISLAMABAD: The wife of former star cricketer Wasim Akram to star in Faisal Qureshi’s ‘Money Back Guarantee,’ which will be released on Eid-ul-Fitr this year.

Director Faisal Qureshi’s film “Money Back Guarantee” will be a star-studded movie featuring Fawad Khan, Hira Mani, Wasim Akram, Afzal Khan alias Jan Rambo, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Ayesha Omar, Javed Sheikh, Shaniera Akram, Gohar Rasheed, Hina Dilpazeer, Ali Safina, Kiran Malik, and many others.

The film will not only star Shaniera but also her husband, former cricketer turned commentator Wasim Akram as well. Recently in an interview, she revealed why she stepped foot into this field; she said that the director of the movie Faisal Qureshi approached the couple to cast them in his film; as they both went through the script, they found it quite hilarious and interesting; hence they both agreed to act. She was questioned about her character, to which she did not say much but said that she would be seen playing the character of an American who will be visiting Pakistan, and she hoped that she gave her best shot to the character.

Shaniera Akram’s early life and career

The Australian national wife of the former cricketer Wasim Akram was a PR consultant before and married the cricketer in 2013 in Lahore; they had a very closed yet simple Nikah ceremony. The couple had a daughter Aiya in 2014. She is also a stepmother to Wasim Akram’s two elder sons from his former wife, Tahmoor and Akbar. She loves and supports them equally and acknowledges them as important as her daughter.

In an interview with DW Urdu, Shaniera Akram detailed why she chose this new career path. “It all started when film director Faisal Qureshi approached me and my husband, Wasim Akram, to star in his upcoming film,” she began. “When we received the film script and went through it, we both found it quite hilarious and interesting, and that’s why we agreed to act in the movie.”

To a question about her role in the film Money Back Guarantee, Shaniera immediately responded, “I am not allowed to talk too much regarding my role, but I can just reveal is that I play an American who visits Pakistan,” adding that she hopes she has done justice to playing the role.

Shaniera also appreciated the efforts of her fellow cast. “It was an 11-day spell that I fully enjoyed, and I have heard my fellow actors have worked very hard to bring this project to life.”
