LONDON: Colombian pop star Shakira has hinted at an exciting new collaboration with English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran for the upcoming animated film Zootopia 2, which is set to release in cinemas on November 26, 2025.
The 48-year-old singer took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the official trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Disney’s 2016 blockbuster Zootopia, revealing that she will reprise her role as Gazelle, the glamorous pop icon in the animal metropolis.
“I’m so ready for Zootopia 2!! And guess what? Gazelle is back!” Shakira wrote in the caption of her Instagram post.
She further revealed, “So grateful to have worked with Ed Sheeran (@teddysphotos) on the creation of this exciting new original song! Can’t wait for the premiere!”

While specific details about the track have not yet been made public, Shakira confirmed in her Instagram story that the new song, created in collaboration with Sheeran, will be part of the film’s soundtrack.
The trailer teases a high-stakes mission for returning characters Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman), who are now full-time officers with the Zootopia Police Department.
The duo is tasked with uncovering a new threat facing the city — a cunning, slithering snake, voiced by Everything Everywhere All At Once star Ke Huy Quan.
According to Disney, “To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover in unexpected parts of Zootopia, where their growing partnership will be tested like never before.”
The original Zootopia, released in 2016, was a massive critical and commercial success. It grossed over $1 billion globally and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The sequel aims to build on that success with fresh characters, deeper storytelling, and a new soundtrack featuring chart-topping artists like Shakira and Sheeran.
Zootopia 2 will be released in cinemas nationwide on November 26, 2025.
