COLUMBIA: MTV has announced that international sensation Shakira will be bestowed with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award at the upcoming 2023 Video Music Awards (VMAs), scheduled to be broadcast live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center on September 12.
With six of her music videos, including iconic hits such as “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Waka Waka,” amassing over a billion views on YouTube, the Columbian singer has established herself as a four-time Moon Person winner, showcasing her exceptional artistry and popularity.
Shakira, renowned for her dynamic performances, will also take the stage to dazzle the audience with her musical prowess during the awards ceremony. Having previously clinched four Moon Person trophies, she is nominated in four categories at the VMAs this year, including artist of the year, best collaboration for “TQG” alongside Karol G, and best Latin for both “TQG” and “Acróstico.”
