DHAKA: Shakib Al Hasan, making a comeback in T20Is after nearly a year, showcased his all-round brilliance by claiming 4-35, aiding Bangladesh in overcoming a batting collapse to secure a narrow five-run victory over Zimbabwe in the fourth Twenty20 international match in Dhaka.
Mustafizur Rahman complemented Shakib’s performance with figures of 3-19, as the home side successfully bowled out Zimbabwe for 138 runs in 19.4 overs. Despite losing early wickets and being reduced to 57-4, Zimbabwe displayed resilience through a middle-order partnership between Johnathan Campbell and Ryan Burl.
However, Bangladesh regained control with crucial wickets from Mustafizur and Shakib, ultimately sealing the win. Bangladesh’s innings began explosively with a 101-run opening stand between Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Soumya Sarkar. Although Zimbabwe fought back to restrict Bangladesh, the hosts succumbed to a collapse, losing their last eight wickets for just 35 runs. With the series already in the bag for Bangladesh, Zimbabwe will aim to salvage pride in the fifth and final match of the series in Dhaka on Sunday.
