DUBAI: Pakistan U-19 outplayed India U-19 by 43 runs in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2024 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 281/7, powered by a brilliant knock of 159 runs by Shahzaib Khan.
The opener displayed remarkable composure and aggression, smashing five boundaries and 10 towering sixes during his 129-ball stay at the crease.
His 160-run opening partnership with Usman Khan, who contributed a steady 60 runs off 94 balls, laid a strong foundation for Pakistan.
India’s bowlers faced a challenging task, with Samarth Nagaraj leading the attack and claiming 3/45, while Ayush Mhatre chipped in with two key wickets. Despite their efforts, Pakistan managed to set a daunting target of 282 runs.
In response, India struggled against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack, managing only 238 runs in 47.1 overs. Nikhil Kumar emerged as India’s top scorer with a fighting 67 off 77 balls, but his efforts weren’t enough to steer the Boys in Blue to victory.
Pakistan’s bowlers maintained control throughout India’s innings, ensuring that the required run rate kept climbing.
Congratulations to the Pakistan U19 team on their remarkable victory against India in the 3rd match of the Asia Cup!
