ISLAMABAD: Federal Capital police on Sunday said that it was fully prepared to provide world-class and end-to-end foolproof security to the New Zealand cricket team during their upcoming visit to Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, it said that it had provided full and high-level security during the English cricket team’s recent visit and the 8th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
IGP Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan said that the force would be playing an important role in providing flawless security in collaboration with other stakeholders in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, the star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been named in Pakistan’s squad for T20 and one-day international series against the visiting team New Zealand.
T20 and ODI series schedule against New Zealand
Afridi has not played for Pakistan since complicating a knee injury during Twenty20 World Cup final in Australia on 13 November 2022.
The pacer missed subsequent series against New Zealand and England but returned to cricket in the Pakistan Super League season 8, playing a starring role in the final to lead Lahore Qalandars to their second title.
Captain Babar Azam and opener Mohammad Rizwan, who were rested during the T20 series against Afghanistan last month, also returned to the squad.
Per the schedule issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the first three games will be played in Lahore from 14-17 April. The teams then move to Rawalpindi for the last 2 T20s and the opening One-day International of the 5-match series, culminating in Karachi on 7 May 7.
