ISLAMABAD/MUMBAI: Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has formally responded to the Indian extremists who have announced to boycott of his upcoming film “Pathan”.

According to Indian media, speaking at the film festival in West Bengal, Shah Rukh Khan said that whatever happens, as long as there were good people in the world, nothing unusual will happen.

The song ‘Besharam Rang’ of the film was released, showing Shah Rukh Khan wearing a green colour dress and Deepika Padukone in saffron, a symbolic and virtuous sign in Hinduism.

A controversy started over the film’s song as Hindu extremists announced a boycott of the movie over Deepika’s saffron dress, which they claimed exhibited extremism. The saffron colour is considered sacred in Hinduism. The Hnidu extremists also objected to Shah Rukh Khan’s wearing of green coloured dress in the song.

Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, who belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party, opposed the song and the colour of Deepika’s clothes. He said that Deepika also supported the protests at Jawaharlal Nehru University. He said they would ban the movie in Madhya Pradesh if its scenes were not changed. Meanwhile, Hindu extremists have also started hashtags on Twitter announcing to boycott of the film. They have also hurled threats.

The Pathan movie starring Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, and Deepika Padukone will hit cinemas on January 25, 2023.
