RAMALLAH: At least seven more Palestinian civilians were killed in Israeli forces’ airstrike in the occupied West Bank on Sunday. The escalating tensions in the West Bank have reached unprecedented levels, fueled by Israel’s bombardments in Gaza since October 7.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry based in Ramallah, an Israeli occupation airstrike in Jenin killed seven Palestinian civilians. The ministry condemned the attack, describing it as an Israeli bombardment on a group of civilians.
In a separate incident north of Ramallah, an Israeli police officer lost his life during an operation in the refugee camp. Another Israeli civilian was reported killed in the same region, according to the Israeli army.
The official Palestinian news agency, Wafa, reported a major deployment of Israeli forces in Jenin, noting that six Palestinians, including four brothers, were killed in an “Israeli drone strike.” A seventh person succumbed to injuries later.
Eyewitness Suleiman Moussa recounted the aftermath of the airstrike, describing scenes of devastation with people thrown to the ground, some with severe injuries. The airstrike left blood and splintered glass on the pavement near the refugee camp, as residents grappled with the immediate aftermath.
328 Palestinians Killed in West Bank Since Oct 7
The West Bank, home to about three million Palestinians and 490,000 Israeli settlers in settlements deemed illegal under international law, has witnessed a rising death toll. Since October 7, at least 328 Palestinians in the West Bank have been killed by either Israeli soldiers or settlers, according to the Palestinian health ministry. The year 2023 alone has seen over 520 Palestinians killed in the West Bank, reflecting the intensification of the longstanding conflict in the region.
