MOSCOW: Seven people were killed in separate incidents on Wednesday in the eastern Ukrainian region of Lugansk under Russian control, authorities announced.
Governor Leonid Pasechnik confirmed that five civilians died when a bus struck a mine while en route to a cemetery in the city of Kirovsk within the Lugansk People’s Republic.
Additionally, two civilians were reported killed in Kreminna, around 70 kilometers (43 miles) further north, due to alleged shelling by Ukrainian forces. Local official Vyacheslav Tretyakov condemned the incident, labeling it as a “cynical act of aggression” by Ukrainian units.
These incidents occurred in territories primarily controlled by Russian forces following Moscow’s annexation claim in 2022, a move not recognized by Kyiv or its allies.
