KYIV: At least seven people including a 6-year-old child were killed and 90 others wounded when a Russian missile targeted a central square in Chernihiv, a city historic of Ukrainian, claimed the interior ministry on Saturday.
The incident occurred as people were en route to church to celebrate a religious holiday. Among the wounded, 12 were children and 10 were police officers, the statement issued from the interior ministry said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who was in Sweden for official visit, said that a Russian missile attacked a square near a theatre of the polytechnic university. A brief video accompanying his post depicted the aftermath: debris scattered across the square in front of a regional drama theatre, severely damaged parked cars, and the grim sight of a body within one of the vehicles.
