GAZA: In a heartbreaking incident that unfolded in southern Gaza, a devastating Israeli airstrike claimed the lives of numerous Palestinians, including innocent children, near a school housing the displaced individuals.
The airstrike targeted a residence in close proximity to the Ahmed Abdelaziz School, which is administered by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and situated in the Khan Younis refugee camp, as reported by the official WAFA news agency.
The somber report revealed that at least nine Palestinians were tragically killed, with seven of the victims being children, in the airstrike that struck the al Bakri family’s home. The harrowing situation is further compounded by the fact that there are family members who remain trapped under the rubble, intensifying the anguish experienced by those affected.
The news of this devastating incident rapidly spread across various social media platforms, as heart-wrenching images of lifeless and bloodied toddlers, lined up side by side on a hospital stretcher, evoked outrage and sympathy throughout the beleaguered Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.
Wrapped in bandages and caked in dust, the lifeless bodies were transported to the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Younis, accompanied by the lifeless remains of three additional members of the Bakri family. The hospital’s operating room was inundated with photographers seeking to document the heart-wrenching scene, while the visible distress was palpable among the medical staff, with some women covering their eyes and doctors shedding tears.
Dr. Yousef Al Akkad, the hospital’s director, could hardly contain his emotions as he stated, “This is a massacre. Let the world see, these are just children.” The tragic loss of innocent lives, particularly children, has further illuminated the urgent need for a resolution to the ongoing conflict in the region.
In the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, another heart-wrenching incident transpired as a toddler lost their life, and several individuals were wounded due to an Israeli airstrike on the camp. Witnesses recounted the devastation caused by Israeli raids on residential buildings in Rafah city, located in the southern part of Gaza, where a reported 20 Palestinians lost their lives.
Tragically, the violence extended beyond Gaza, as Israeli forces shot and killed two Palestinian teenagers during protests in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian officials. Additionally, the WAFA news agency reported the death of a Palestinian man in the West Bank village of Budrus due to actions by Israeli forces.
