ISLAMABAD: Serbia’s Novak Djokovic on Sunday won his 10th Australian Open title after defeating Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6, 7-6. With the win, Djokovic also became the world No. 1 in ATP rankings.
With his 22nd Gland Slam single title win, he is now tied with Spain’s Rafael Nadal’s record.
After Australian Open win, Djokovic tops ATP world ranking
In the men’s finals on Sunday, Djokovic won the first set 6-3. In the fourth game of the first set, Djokovic broke Tsitsipas’ serve and took a lead of 3-1. He maintained his momentum to win the set.
The second set saw both players at their best, with little separating the two. The set ended after Djokovic prevailed 7-4 in the tiebreak and won the second set 7-6.
The third set once again saw both players giving their best display, with the Serb player emerging victorious after taking the set 7-6.
With the win, Djokovic also became the world No. 1 in ATP rankings.
