TEL AVIV: Israeli military claimed that they killed a senior Hezbollah commander in another strike on Lebanon’s Beirut.

According to local media, Israeli army has repeatedly struck inside Beirut in recent weeks, as tensions between the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah and Israel have escalated. The attack reportedly killed Suhail Hussein Husseini.

According to media reports, Husseini was responsible for transferring advanced arms from Iran to different units within the group and was a member of Hezbollah’s military council.  However, on the other hand, Hezbollah declined to comment over the claim.

The strikes come following Israeli troops have been repeatedly targeting Lebanon, killing several high-ranking leaders including Hassan Nasrallah.

Israel- Hezbollah Conflict

Hezbollah has said that they have already replaced their slain leaders, and pledged to keep fighting against Israel until a truce in the Gaza Strip has been achieved.

Last week, Israel launched a limited ground intrusion into southern Lebanon in what officials’ fear is an escalation of the conflict which has dragged on between Hezbollah’s ally, Hamas and Israel, for one year.

On the day of the one-year anniversary of 7 October, the date which sparked the conflict Hamas and between Israel, Palestinian groups fired a barrage of rockets into Israel.

The war started after Hamas-led fighters launched a terror strike in Israel killing around 1,200 people and kidnapping another 250.

Israel has also retaliated by vowing to destroy Hamas in Gaza, killing about 42,000 people according to local officials and displacing more than 90% of its population in its process.

The war has spread in the region, with Israel now targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon and contending with Tehran — who launched a barrage of missiles across Israel last week.

A truce deal which has been backed by the America has repeatedly faltered, with both Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu declining the back down in the Gaza Strip and Hamas insisting on the end of hostilities. In a statement on the eve of October 7, Israeli PM said that as long as their hostages are in Gaza, they would continue to fight.
