Senior Chinese Official to Attend Masoud Pezeshkian’s Swearing-In Ceremony

TEHRAN: Vice Chairman of China’s National People’s Congress Peng Qinghua will visit to Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian.

This announcement was made by Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Mao revealed that Peng Qinghua will visit Iran following an invitation from Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.

Moreover, China’s Ambassador to Iran, Cong Peiwu, confirmed that a senior delegation will also be present at the inauguration to deliver a significant message from the Chinese government to the new president.

Pezeshkian, who won 16,384,403 out of 30,530,157 votes in the run-off election, will take the oath of office next Tuesday as the ninth president of the Islamic Republic of Iran. An endorsement ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, where Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and other top officials will be present.

Following the run-off election, Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Pezeshkian and expressed China’s eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations under the Beijing-Tehran joint comprehensive strategic cooperation framework.
