Pakistan’s Senators Demand Action to Ensure Girls’ Education in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Senators on Monday urged for measures to remove obstacles to girls’ education in Afghanistan that are negatively affecting the areas along Pak-Afghanistan border region of the country.

Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians’ (PPPP) Senator Rubina Khalid said that the curbs on girls’ education in Afghanistan were casting negative ideological impacts along the border with Afghanistan.

She said the House should refer this issue to the committee to find solutions on priority as girls’ education was vital for nation-building.

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JIP) Senator Mushtaq Ahmed also addressed the issue, saying that the girls’ education in Afghanistan should be addressed as it had across-the-border impacts due to cultural affinities between both nations.

He said that the matter should be referred to the committee to resolve the issues of girls in the region who are likely to be negatively impacted due to the Afghan government’s decision.
