Security Forces Kill Eight Terrorists in Northwest Pakistan Operations

RAWALPINDI: At least eight terrorists were killed and five others including facilitators arrested in security forces successfully intelligence-based operations in the Northwest region of Pakistan.

The media wing of the Pakistan Army, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed the security operations carried out in Bannu and North Waziristan, Southern districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in a statement issued on Thursday.

The first operation, taking place in the general area of Jani Khel, Bannu District, witnessed an intense firefight between security forces and terrorists.

This clash led to the killing of six terrorists, while five others were captured, read ISPR statement. These individuals were linked to various acts of terrorism against security forces, notably their involvement in facilitating a Motorcycle Borne Suicide attack on a military convoy in Jani Khel on August 31, 2023, resulting in the loss of nine soldiers.

In a separate operation conducted in the general area of Datta Khel, North Waziristan District, security forces engaged in an encounter with terrorists, leading to the elimination of two terrorists.

Additionally, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists. Ongoing efforts are being made to ensure the safety of the surrounding areas by neutralizing any remaining terrorists.

The local population in the area has expressed appreciation for the operation, highlighting the determination of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate the menace of terrorism.

In a separate incident, the body of a police officer, Wali Shah, was discovered in Lakki Marwat. Shah, who served as an Officer of the Highway Police (OHC) at the District Police Office, was abducted by unidentified armed individuals the previous night. Tragically, he was abducted and subsequently killed while returning home after his duty.

Meanwhile, the funeral prayers for the martyred police officer were conducted with full official honors at the Police Lines. The prayer was attended by RPO Qasim Ali Khan, DC, DPO, officers from the Pakistan Army, civil services, and the family of the martyr.
