Security at Polling Stations on Alert: Islamabad Police

ISLAMABAD:  Islamabad police has said that security at polling stations in the federal capital is on alert as the nation to elect new government today.

In a statement via social media, it said that the police personnel reached the polling stations across the city. It added that as long as the polling stations are operated, security will remain alert.

It further said that along with 6,500 personnel of Islamabad police, 1,500 Rangers, 1,000 FC, and Pakistan Army personnel are performing their duties in Islamabad.

Over 17,000 Candidates are contesting in today’s election in Pakistan. With 56 million of the voters below the age of 35, and roughly 29 million in the 36-45 bracket, Pakistan’s younger generations are in a position to heavily influence the results in the country’s key election.

Voters will choose 266 candidates to the National Assembly of Pakistan, who will later, by a majority vote, elect the new prime minister of the South Asian country.
