PESHAWAR: The seven-day second phase of the anti-polio vaccination campaign started on Monday in seven marked districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.
According to the provincial health department, over 1.1 million children under the age of five will receive polio drops as part of a vaccination campaign that will last until June 5 in seven chosen districts of the DI Khan and Bannu divisions.
The health department has constituted 4,947 teams of experienced technical staff and assistants, 6,437 mobile groups of trained polio workers, and 9,159 community mobilizers have also been hired to administer polio drops to the target children population.
While about 12,974 police officers were deployed to protect the security of the polio teams during the polio campaign, the health department has also employed 1722 supervisors to effectively monitor polio teams and ensure that every kid gets immunized. — APP
