ISLAMABAD: In a shock move shaking British politics on both sides of the border, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon Wednesday revealed that she resigned after over eight years heading its devolved government.
Nicola, who is the Scottish National Party (SNP) leader, said both in her “heart and head” it the appropriate time was right to quit.
For nearly a decade she spearheaded the push for the independence of Scotland and opposed Brexit.
Sturgeon faced pressure over independence, transgender rights
Nicola leaves as Scotland’s leader and head of the SNP, the largest party in the devolved parliament, after facing intensifying pressure over her moves over transgender rights and for independence.
She confirmed she would stay on as first minister until the SNP elects a new leader.
