SCO Secretary-General Stresses Practical Cooperation Among Member States

ISLAMABAD: Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Zhang Ming praised Pakistan for its outstanding arrangements during the meeting of SCO heads of government, noting the country’s vital role in the event’s success.

At a news conference in Islamabad with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Zhang emphasized that the meeting focused on practical cooperation among member states. He highlighted in-depth discussions on trade, investment, transport, energy, and agriculture.

Zhang announced the adoption of a Concept of Cooperation designed to foster new economic dialogue among SCO member states, aimed at enhancing trade and economic collaboration.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar described the joint communiqué resulting from the meeting as a comprehensive document that covers a broad spectrum of cooperative efforts. He pointed out that the discussions were conducted in a traditional SCO environment marked by goodwill, understanding, collaboration, and mutual respect.

Dar noted that the meeting reaffirmed the SCO leadership’s commitment to working together, promoting a spirit of cooperation to address challenges and build a sustainable future. He expressed pride in Pakistan’s role as host for the SCO heads of government and conveyed confidence that the visiting delegates would depart with positive impressions of their experience in Pakistan.
