ISLAMABAD:  All public and private schools across Rawalpindi have introduced six new subject groups for admissions into Grade 9 for the 2025-26 academic session

According to local media reports, starting April 11, all public and private schools in Rawalpindi will introduce six new subject groups for students entering Grade 9.

These new streams are: natural sciences, computer science, health science, agriculture, fashion designing, and arts.

Students who are promoted from Grade 8 to Grade 9 will have three days to select one of these groups. To help make the right decision, the students are encouraged to discuss their options with their parents. Admission forms for Grade 9 will now include detailed information about all six subject groups to guide students and their families.

Media reports suggest that there will be five compulsory subjects that everyone must study. These include English, Urdu, Islamiat, Pakistan Studies, and Quran translation.

Future career goals

This new system aims to give students more choices based on their interests and future career goals. Instead of forcing all students to study the same subjects, the goal is to allow them to build a strong foundation in the field they enjoy and plan to pursue.

By offering streams like health science and agriculture, the schools are also trying to prepare students for practical, in-demand careers. Students interested in art and creativity can now explore the arts or fashion designing group.

This change is a big step towards making education more flexible and meaningful for students in Rawalpindi, according to media reports. Schools, parents, and students will need to work together to ensure the best choices are made during this important transition.

Classes for these new groups will officially begin on April 11.

The natural science group will additionally include biology, physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

The computer science group will include computer science, physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

The health science group will feature biology, physics, chemistry, and health science.

The agriculture group will offer biology, physics, chemistry, and agricultural science.
