STAFF REPORT
LAHORE: The Punjab provisional School Education Department (SED) has stopped receiving funds from the Punjab government, which has caused problems for the teacher’s community, including deceased teachers’ families.
As per reports, many cases involving leave encashment and financial assistance to deceased teachers’ families are still pending due to a lack of funds. The provincial government has kept back payment of Rs. 6 billion to the School Education Department (SED), stopping it from clearing its pending debts.
Causes of economic crisis for School teachers
Reportedly, it has been said that the money has not been paid out due to the provisional unchanged financial share of the education department. For clearing leave encashment dues of teachers, over Rs. 2 billion are required by Education Department (SED).
Teaching is one of the lowest-paid jobs in Pakistan. The Punjab government must compensate teachers and their families by making the required changes in the education sector.
