Schedule for WI Women Trip to Pakistan Announced

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday that the West Indies women’s cricket team is scheduled to arrive in Karachi on April 14 for a series of eight white-ball matches in the South Asian country.

The series will kick off with a three-match ODI series starting on April 18, followed by the second leg consisting of five T20Is scheduled from April 26 to May 3, all to be played at the same ground.

This marks the West Indies women side second tour to Pakistan since 2021, having previously played three ODIs in Karachi.

Tania Mallick, Head of Women’s Cricket, expressed a warm welcome to the West Indies women team, highlighting PCB’s commitment to promoting women’s cricket and providing opportunities for players to excel internationally.

Mallick emphasized the significance of the forthcoming series in strengthening cricketing relationships between nations and underlined the importance for the Pakistan women’s team to secure maximum points in the championship matches, as they strive to qualify directly for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup.

She said that in preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup later this year, five T20Is have also been scheduled against West Indies to assist selectors in finalizing the squad for the tournament, reflecting the team’s recent strong performances in the T20I format. Mallick concluded by expressing confidence in the team’s determination and dedication to success.
