ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) issued a Rs50 commemorative coin on Friday to mark the golden jubilee of the Senate, Pakistan’s Upper House of Parliament.
The Senate will celebrate its golden jubilee in 2023, and the federal government has authorized the central bank to issue a Rs50 commemorative coin to commemorate the occasion, according to a statement issued here.
The Senate of Pakistan is Pakistan’s upper legislative chamber of the bicameral parliament, with equal representation from all provinces, and it is a permanent House, and symbolizes the process of continuity in national affairs.
SBP Banking Services Corporation field offices
From March 17, 2023, the coin will be distributed through the exchange counters of all SBP Banking Services Corporation field offices. The coin is round in shape, with a diameter of 30.0 mm, a weight of 13.5 grams, and a Cupro-Nickel metal composition of 75% Copper and 25% Nickel.
The obverse face of the coin is having a five-pointed star facing North West in the center and a waxing crescent moon, with the words ‘Islami Jamhuria Pakistan’ written in Urdu along the periphery, that is on top of the crescent star.
The year of issuance-2023 is below the crescent and on top of 2 springs of wheat with arms curved upward. On both sides of the crescent star, the face value of the coin is written in bold letters as ’50’ and ‘Rupia’ in Urdu script.
The Senate of Pakistan’s Insignia is shown in the center and on the opposite side of the coin, with the artistic numeral wording 50 on the right-hand side. Along with the periphery, the wording ‘Pakistan Senate Golden Jubilee’ in Urdu script is inscribed on the top of the insignia. Below the insignia is written the duration (1973-2023) of the golden jubilee.
