ISLAMABAD: Abid Qamar, the Director at the State Bank of Pakistan, on Friday expressed admiration for the crucial role Pakistani women play in nation-building and emphasized the necessity of their digital financial inclusion for economic empowerment, which he sees as fundamental to Pakistan’s development.
Speaking to a state news channel on International Women’s Day, he underscored that women’s financial inclusion is pivotal for fostering gender equality and empowering them in all spheres of life.
Qamar highlighted SBP’s commitment to advancing the financial inclusion of women, aiming for greater engagement in the financial sector through increased employment opportunities in financial institutions and improved access to financial services.
He emphasized SBP’s initiative to support the career progression of women employees, advocating for their representation in leadership positions as a norm rather than an exception in the future.
Furthermore, Qamar stressed the importance of acknowledging women’s contributions to the economy and promoting their increased participation. He called for the creation of women-friendly work environments and facilities conducive to their growth and utilization of their full potential for the nation’s advancement. —APP
