RIYADH: Saudi ministers have discussed enhancing cooperation in trade and cultural sectors with their UK counterparts.

The Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, discussed enhancing the partnership between Saudi Arabia and the UK within the industrial and mining sectors during his meeting with the Minister of State for International Trade, Nigel Huddleston.

Both ministers, who spoke sidelines of the GCC Ministers of Trade and Industry meeting held in Oman, assessed investment prospects and explored strategies for expanding trade while also diversifying non-oil exports.

In a separate meeting, Saudi Assistant Minister of Culture, Rakan Al-Touq, engaged in conversations regarding the development of various projects related to heritage and museums with Stephen Parkinson, the UK’s Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport.

During the meeting, which took place during the 45th Extended Session of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee in Riyadh, Al-Touq expressed gratitude to the UK for its support of Saudi Arabia’s candidacy for the UNESCO Executive Board for 2023-2027.

Both officials underscored the existing cultural bonds between Saudi Arabia and the UK, with a focus on ways to further cultivate these connections in alignment with the Memorandum of Understanding signed by both countries in February 2022, aimed at enhancing cultural cooperation.
