RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Monday received a phone call from British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and discussed the latest developments in the region.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry, in a statement, said that during the call, they discussed the latest developments in the region and their repercussions on both the regional and global levels.

Meanwhile, Iran launched missile attacks on a US military base in Qatar on Monday in retaliation for the American bombing of its three nuclear facilities amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, The Associated Press reported.

Iran announced on state television that it launched an attack on American forces stationed at Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base.

Qatar’s Defence Ministry said its air defence had successfully intercepted the missile attack on Al-Udeid Air Base, which resulted in no deaths or injuries.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, in a statement on X, said, “We express the State of Qatar’s strong condemnation of the attack on Al Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, and consider it a flagrant violation of the State of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, as well as of international law and the United Nations Charter.”
