RIYADH: The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has asked all Muslims in the country to look for the crescent of the month of Ramadan on Sunday evening.

Sunday, March 10, 2024 corresponds to Shaban 29, 1445. If the crescent of the month of Ramadan is seen on Sunday evening, then the month of Ramadan begins on Monday, March 20. Otherwise, the holy month will begin on Tuesday, March 21.

The Supreme Court has asked anyone who sees the Ramadan crescent with the naked eye or binoculars to report it to the court nearest to the scene and record their testimony there, the Saudi Arabian News Agency reported.

The Saudi Moon Sighting Committee usually observes the moon a few days before the scheduled start of Ramadan, but Muslims who wish to observe the moon themselves are encouraged to do so as well.

As the holy month of Ramadan begins, Muslims around the world fast, which involves abstaining from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk, as part of Islamic rituals aimed at encouraging patience, charity, and community well-being.
