Saudi Shooter Wins First Medal in 15th Arab Games

ALGIERS: Saudi shooter Ali Abdul Ghani won the first Saudi medal in the 15th Arab Games, which are presently being held in Algeria, with a silver medal in the javelin throw competition after throwing 73.54 meters on the session’s penultimate day of athletics competitions.

Saudi Team Defeat Iraqi, and Libyan Teams

In the handball competitions, the Saudi team overcame its Iraqi counterpart 32-25 in its opening match of the championship, while in the moving chairs competitions, the Saudi team defeated its Libyan counterpart 72-27 in the competition hosted by the Staoueli Hall in Algiers.

The Saudi national badminton team, Yazan Al-Sayegh, and Moaz Al-Ghamdi, qualified for the 16th round, which will be held today in Algiers’ Oval Hall, after defeating Qatari Saud Al-Abdul-Karim with a score of 2/0, while Moaz Al-Ghamdi qualified after the withdrawal of his Algerian counterpart, Mustafa Kessari.

Mohammed Al-Amard, a Saudi hurdler, qualified for the 400m hurdles final, which will be held today at the Olympic Stadium track and field in the Algerian city of Oran, at the end of the competition of games. Al-Amard finished fourth in the race’s semi-finals yesterday, Thursday, with a time of 52.65 seconds.
