RIYADH: Interior ministers of Saudi Arabia and Qatar have discussed regional security developments and the current situation evolving after the blatant Iranian attacks targeting the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the region.
Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud in a phone call with Qatari Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani reaffirmed Kingdom’s support for Qatar to maintain its security and stability, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.
Both leaders reaffirmed the deep fraternal ties between the two nations and emphasised their shared commitment to strengthening coordination and cooperation to uphold regional security and stability, safeguarding the safety of citizens and residents.
It is pertinent to mention that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan affirmed that GCC countries would spare no effort to defend their territories and mobilise all available capabilities to preserve regional stability.
“GCC countries will continue exerting all efforts to defend their territories and mobilise all available capabilities to support regional security and preserve stability,” they said.
The two leaders made the remarks during a phone conversation on Monday, in which they condemned continued Iranian attacks against Gulf states as a dangerous escalation threatening regional security, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
“Continued Iranian attacks against the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) represent a dangerous escalation threatening the security and stability of the region,” they added.
Regional authorities say thousands of Iranian missiles and drones have been launched toward the Gulf since the conflict began in late February, hitting airports, ports, energy infrastructure and civilian areas across the region.
Earlier, the Asian ambassadors expressed their strong condemnation of Iranian attacks on Saudi Arabia, Gulf States affirming solidarity with the Kingdom’s efforts to preserve regional security and stability.
