Saudi Public Prosecution to Penalize Practices Involving Nuclear Material

RIYADH: The Saudi Arabia public prosecution has warned citizens from committing any practices involving nuclear materials without obtaining a permit.

The warning includes the possession, use, transfer, alteration, adjusting, or disposal of nuclear materials without having a licence.

The prosecution said that anyone who causes or may cause the death of or serious injury to a person or severe damage to property or the environment would be subjected to a financial fine of up to SR30 million and a jail term of 10 years.

Plutonium, Uranium out of public bounds

The public prosecution said nuclear materials were any source or fissile material, as defined in the Nuclear Safeguards Agreement. It further clarified them as plutonium or uranium-233, or uranium-233 or uranium-235, in addition to certain natural isotopes of uranium.
