ADEN: Saudi Arabia’s Masam project removed 1,207 explosive devices from various areas of Yemen during the first week of July.
The devices removed by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief)’s project included 1,065 unexploded ordnances, 102 anti-tank mines, 34 anti-personnel mines, and six improvised explosive devices, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.
The explosives had been planted indiscriminately across the country, posing a threat to civilians, including children, women, and the elderly.
The latest clearance operation brings the total number of landmines removed under the Masam Project to 572,332 since its launch. The mines had been planted indiscriminately across Yemen, posing a grave threat to civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly.
Through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, Saudi Arabia continues to support large-scale demining operations across Yemen, helping to protect civilian lives, improve public safety, and create safer conditions for communities to live and rebuild with dignity.
