RIYADH: The Saudi Power Procurement Company said on Wednesday that it will be re-tendering Qassim and Taiba projects into four smaller combined cycle power projects of 1,800MW capacity each with provision for Sequestration (CCS) readiness and Carbon capture.
This is in alignment with the Government’s Saudi Green Initiative, and its stated greenhouse gases (GHGs) net-zero ambition by 2060 via the deployment of technologies for a circular carbon economy approach.

These green projects will introduce the developer’s capacity to enforce CCS or other potential solutions to address GHGs emissions when deemed feasible permitting for greater participation of EPCs, developers, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and will drive further domestic content and value-added to Saudi Arabia. Project RFPs to be released on January. 20, 2023.
