According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Saudi King wished wounded people a speedy recovery and said, “We send to your excellency, the relatives of the deceased and the people of Pakistan, our deepest and sincere condolences,”.

Meanwhile, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also sent a similar message to the President of Pakistan.

As per media reports, over 1,000 passengers were on-board the Hazara Express when it came off the tracks in a flat, Sindh, Nawabshah, about 250 kilometres by rail from Karachi. As many as 90 people were injured in the accident.

Accidents and derailments take place often on Pakistan’s old-fashioned railway system. In June 2021, two trains collided near Daharki in Sindh province, killing as many as 65 people and injuring around 150 others.
