RIYADH: The Saudi leadership has warmly conveyed its heartfelt and sincere congratulations to Pakistan on the occasion of the country National Day, wishing the nation continued progress, prosperity, and enduring friendship between the two countries.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, sent a message to President Asif Ali Zardari, wishing him continued health and happiness, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday. The King also conveyed his best wishes for the government and people of Pakistan, hoping for steady progress and prosperity.
Similarly, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent a congratulatory message to President Zardari, extending his personal good wishes to the Pakistani leadership and nation.
These messages underscore the longstanding ties and friendship between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Earlier this month Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, reaffirming Islamabad’s support for the kingdom and discussing regional security amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar participated in the Consultative Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers from Arab and Islamic countries, hosted by the Saudi Arabia in March.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share long-standing political, economic and defence ties. The kingdom is home to more than two million Pakistani expatriates, whose remittances form a significant part of Pakistan’s foreign exchange inflows.
Saudi Arabia has also been a key economic partner for Pakistan, providing financial assistance, oil on deferred payment facilities and investment commitments during times of economic stress.
Security cooperation has remained a cornerstone of the relationship, with the two countries maintaining close military coordination and regular high-level exchanges between defence and political leadership.
