RIYADH: Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Minister of Sport, chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Saudi Games Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal has attended the opening ceremony of the third annual Saudi Games, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The SPA reported that the ceremony took place at Boulevard Riyadh City and featured a royal anthem, a parade of participating players, and the raising of the Olympic and Paralympic Committee flags. Players took the sports oath, and the minister of sport formally declared the opening of the games, which will run from October 3 to 17.
The event will showcase players competing in 52 individual and team sports, including 7 Paralympic sports, ten demonstration sports, as well as fifteen youth sports. The total prize money exceeds SAR200 million, the SPA reported.
