RIYADH: The Ministry of Health has stressed that early detection of breast cancer is crucial for achieving a recovery rate exceeding 95%, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.
It noted that early diagnosis and prompt treatment significantly improve patient quality of life and reduce mortality.
The ministry highlighted the significance of regular breast health screenings, noting that breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women internationally and locally.
According to the ministry, 55% of breast cancer cases in Saudi Arabia are diagnosed in advanced stages, reducing recovery chances. Early screening is vital for prevention, as 80% of breast tumours are benign.
The ministry recommends a physical activity, healthy diet, breastfeeding, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding long-term use of birth control pills without medical consultation, abstaining from all tobacco products, and adhering to hormone therapy under medical supervision will help reduce the risk of breast cancer.
