He said, “Riyadh strongly condemns the extremists’ burning of copies of the Holy Qur’an and affirms that these disgraceful actions cannot be accepted with any justification, as these acts incite racism and hatred. These acts directly contradict the global efforts to spread the values of moderation, tolerance, and rejection of extremism”.

He stressed that all global condemnations and rejection of these acts were evidence that the world and organizations must act to prevent such offensive events, Arab News reported.

Earlier, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also announced that it would hold an emergency session of its executive committee in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss the consequences of the burning of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden. The session discussed steps to be taken against this heinous act and approved a collective position on the necessary course of action.
