RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received a phone call from Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, during which the two leaders discussed regional developments.

They emphasised the importance of continuing coordination and consultations on regional matters, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

It may be recalled that last month Prince Faisal bin Farhan met Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi in Riyadh, where they discussed continued Houthi attacks on the Kingdom and also signed a protocol to establish the Saudi-Jordanian Higher Coordination Council.

During the meeting, Saudi and Jordanian foreign ministers reviewed the relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them in a manner that serves their mutual interests and strengthens cooperation across various fields, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The two sides also discussed the latest regional developments, particularly the continued attacks by the Houthis on the Kingdom.

Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with Riyadh in confronting these attacks and its unwavering support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security, stability, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

They also reviewed ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions, prevent the further spread of conflict, and restore regional security and stability.
