RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has received a telephone call from the top representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy Josep Borrell, Arab media reported on Monday.
Saudi FM, EU top officials discuss crisis in Sudan
They discussed the latest developments in Sudan and updates on the Saudi-US initiative to host representatives of warring parties in Saudi Arabia in a bid to develop an atmosphere conducive to talks and to decrease the level of tension in the African nation.
Saudi Foreign Minister and EU top official also discussed the current regional and global developments and matters of mutual concern. The US-Saudi initiative is the 1st serious attempt in order to end the current fighting in Sudan.
A statement issued by a Saudi Foreign Ministry said “pre-negotiation” talks initiated on Saturday and “will continue in the next days in the expectation of reaching an effective short-term truce to facilitate humanitarian assistance.”
