RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan embarked on a visit to South Africa on Tuesday to participate in the 15th BRICS Summit, according to the state news agency SPA.
Acting on behalf of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prince Faisal will lead the Saudi delegation during the summit, where leaders from BRICS member nations Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa will gather.
As the summit unfolds in Johannesburg from August 22 to 24, Prince Faisal is expected to engage with a diverse array of delegates and dignitaries from around the world. The event will bring together over 40 heads of state and international representatives, underscoring its significance on the global stage.
Saudi Foreign Minister to Hold Talks with Leaders of Various Countries
During his attendance, Prince Faisal will hold discussions with fellow attendees on topics of mutual interest and concern. The summit provides a platform for participants to delve into a wide spectrum of subjects, spanning agriculture, mining, energy, education, climate change, currency policy, and trade.
The summit was officially inaugurated by South African Minister of Trade and Industry Ebrahim Patel on Tuesday, marking the commencement of a three-day event that will gather approximately 1,200 delegates from the five BRICS member nations and numerous other developing countries.
The overarching objective of the BRICS Summit remains the fostering of enhanced cooperation among its member nations. This cooperative framework serves as a catalyst for addressing shared challenges and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
