RIYADH: A Saudi Arabian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, is set to visit Pakistan on Monday and Tuesday to bolster economic cooperation between the two nations.
This visit aims to expedite the implementation of agreements made between Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during their recent meeting in Makkah Al Mukarramah.
Prime Minister Sharif’s discussions with the crown prince centered on fast-tracking a planned $5 billion investment package, crucial for Pakistan to address its current account deficit and demonstrate to the International Monetary Fund its ability to meet foreign financing requirements, an essential aspect of prior bailout arrangements.
Pakistan is actively seeking Saudi investment across various sectors, including agriculture, mining, minerals, and aviation, underscoring the country’s efforts to diversify its economic base and strengthen bilateral ties with Saudi Arabia. This strategic partnership underscores mutual economic interests and signifies a significant step forward in regional economic collaboration.
