RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, held a phone call with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

According to the SPA, during the telephonic conversation, the two sides discussed the development of the current situation in Gaza and its surroundings and global efforts made to address it. Emphasizing the significance of stopping all forms of targeting civilian population and the need for all sides to abide by global humanitarian law, the SPA maintained.

Saudi FM urged Japan, by virtue of its role as a non-permanent member of the UNSC to work to ensure that the UNSC fulfills its duties to maintain global peace and security by pushing for an urgent cessation of military operations and lifting the siege on Gaza. The Minister stressed the significance of the UNSC’s implementation of its decisions about the Palestinian issue, especially Resolutions 242 (1967), 338 (1973), 1515 (2003), and 2334 (2016), to establish a just and sustainable solution to the issue of Palestine as per the relevant international references, the SPA reported.
