NEW YORK: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah has attended a high-level meeting of the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats, on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.
The Saudi foreign minister in his speech at the meeting said that trafficking of synthetic drugs impacts security and development. He added that there were serious consequences for societies and difficult challenges for the global community that needs close cooperation between governments to fight the global drug scourge.
He also conveyed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to the ministerial declaration launched by the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats.
The minister went on to say the Kingdom continues to enhance international cooperation and multilateral agendas to address the threats of drug trade.

The Saudi minister added the Kingdom was making efforts to exchange information with more than 30 countries to fight the global drug scourge.
He was of the view that continuous monitoring should be adopted to eradicate the growing threat of drugs along with addressing obstacles that lead to the global spread of illicit drug use.
