DAMASCUS: Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, leading a high-level economic delegation, has arrived in Damascus on an official visit to Syria.

He is scheduled to meet with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.

The high-level economic delegation will hold a consultation session with their Syrian counterparts to discuss avenues for joint action aimed at supporting the Syrian economy, strengthening government institutions, and achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people.

The economic delegation comprises Royal Court Adviser Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, Vice Minister of Finance Abdulmuhsen bin Saad Alkhalaf, Assistant Minister of Investment Dr. Abdullah Aldubaikhi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic and Development Affairs Abdullah bin Zarah, as well as several officials from various sectors.

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani welcomed Prince Faisal on arrival at Damascus airport, a Syrian foreign ministry statement said.

It is worth mentioning that on a visit to Riyadh earlier this month, US President Donald Trump said he would lift US sanctions on Syria, a move that paves the way for economic recovery in the war-torn country.
